Kitchen Renovations

From Gutted to Gorgeous: What Really Happens During a Kitchen Renovation

It starts with an idea. Maybe a Pinterest board, maybe just a frustration with outdated cabinets and a countertop that's seen better days. But once the decision to renovate is made, the real journey begins.

The first things to go are the cabinets, revealing the bare bones of the space. That's when the plumbing and electrical work happens. Pipes are rerouted, outlets are updated, and new circuits are run for modern appliances. It's unglamorous work, but everything that comes later sits on top of it.

Then the fun part begins. New cabinets go up, countertops get templated and cut to fit, and the sink and faucet get set in place. Flooring ties the room to the rest of the house. The backsplash goes up, usually the most personal choice in the whole project, and suddenly the room has a personality.

Appliances slide into place, lighting gets hung, and on the last day it's nothing but detail work. Caulking, touch-up paint, outlet covers. Quiet compared to the weeks before it.

And then it's done. What started as a gutted room is now the kitchen people actually want to cook in.
